               Run-ons in Sentence Groups






               Correct the two run-ons in each of the following sentence groups,
               writing your corrections on the lines provided.




                    1.  Marian is trying to save money on her grocery bill she cuts

                        coupons, watches the sales, and shops carefully. Her husband

                        Pete is not as frugal with one trip to the grocery store, he can
                        destroy Marian’s entire budget.





                    2.  Pirby, Nick’s Persian cat, loves to sleep in the sun it warms his

                        old bones. As the day progresses, the sunlight inches across
                        the floor Pirby moves with it.





                    3.  After work each day, Henry works in his garden he raises

                        daffodils and enters them in a flower show every year. Henry’s

                        nephew Billy visited last weekend he trampled most of Henry’s
                        delicate split-cup daffodils into the ground.





                    4.  The snowstorm moved in overnight by morning a glistening

                        blanket of white covered city streets. Soon cars and trucks
