               The woman in the photograph above seems

               horrified by the fragments of broken mirror that

               reflect her image. Perhaps she is superstitious
               and believes that a broken mirror will bring seven

               years’ bad luck. Of course, she could also be an

               English professor, suddenly reminded of the many

               severed sentence parts, or fragments, she has

               encountered during her career.
