                          23. In what ways would planning for a career in international business
be similar to or different from planning for a career in one’s home
                              country?

                          24. Teamwork Form a team with several classmates. Identify one prob-
lem related to the “work” environment or “work” relationships of
your school. Identify why the problem exists and how the school
would be better if the problem were solved. Then propose several
solutions and analyze each to determine its advantages and disad-
vantages. Select the one solution your group believes could be im-
plemented and would be acceptable to administrators, teachers, and
students. Prepare a written report from your group that identifies
the problem, the proposed solution, and the key steps to successfully
                              implementing the solution.
                          25. Math Yarcho and Slayton, Inc. has been training employees to pre-
pare them for a changeover in computer technology. A report on the
training program reveals the following data:
Date of Number of Cost of
                              Training Participants Training Department
                               2-04 45 $ 900 Marketing
                               7-26 26 3,120 Information
                               1-13 11 495 Management

                               9-29 32 960 Operations
                               5-30 65 3,250
                              11-08 29 435 Accounting

                               7-12 38 760
                              12-01 19 855

                              a. Calculate the cost per participant of each training session.
                              b. Determine the average cost of training per participant for the
                                 entire company.
                              c. If the company has a total of 206 employees with 45 in Mar-
keting, 58 in Information Management, 65 in Operations, and
38 in Accounting and Finance, determine the average amount
spent on each employee for training for each department and
                                 for the entire company.
                          26. Career Planning Identify a management or nonmanagement specialist
job that interests you. Using career information from your school
counseling center, library, or the Internet, prepare a description of the
education and experience requirements for the job. Identify an entry-
level job and at least two other related jobs with more advanced re-
quirements and responsibilities that could form a career path for you.
Write a job description for each job. List your current skills and expe-
rience that prepare you for the career path. Identify the skills, educa-
tion, and experience you will need to progress along the career path.
