breakdown structure. Your scope statement contains the following elements:
Project Objectives To bring together all employees into one building. This will
improve communication, reduce travel costs, improve productivity, and reduce
lease costs. This project will relocate 1,200 employees from three locations to the
Main Street Office Building location. The move will be completed by December 31.
All employees will report to work on January 2 at the Main Street Office Building.
Acceptance Criteria The move will be made on time and on budget, with
minimal disruption to employees. Employees will return to work on January 2,
and their computers and phones will be available for use, the printers will be
online, all office spaces will be completed (including pictures hung on the walls),
and office kitchens will be fully stocked with beverages and snacks. All fleet cars
will be moved to the new garage located in the new building and will be available
for checkout on January 2.
Major Deliverables The deliverables include the following:
Communication to all employees regarding the purpose for the move and
instructions regarding packing belongings, location of new office, and
timelines. Communication should occur in multiple forms at least five times
before the move.
Procure the services of a moving company to move boxes and furniture.
Procurement process to start nine months prior to the move date.
Procure general contracting services and perform building remodel on the
three floors occupied by Kate’s organization.
Survey the Main Street Office Building and work with functional managers to
determine seating charts.
Procure new office furniture. Delivery and setup between December 15 and
December 31.
Procure and install cubicle furnishings.
Work with interior designer to maximize space and provide aesthetically
pleasing work space and common areas.
Install employee desktops, peripherals, and telephones.
Install three networked printers on each floor.
Relocate fleet cars to the new garage.
Exclusions from Scope This project does not include moving the satellite office
located 90 miles south of the three main campuses.
Time and Cost Estimates The high-level budget for this project is $450,000.
The high-level timeline for this project is 12 months. Kickoff occurred December
