               Angle between V and I is 45°.

               Power factor = cos 45° = 0.7 lagging

Power absorbed by each phase of the load = V I cos ϕ
                                                                       Ph Ph
                                                                           = 231 × 27.2 × 0.7
                                                                           = 4398 W

               (Total power consumed = 3 × 4398 = 13194 W

               Example 4.5 A 400 V, 50 Hz, three-phase supply is provided to a three-

phase star-connected load. Each phase of the load absorbs a power of 2000
               W. The load power factor is 0.8 lagging. Calculate the total power supplied to
               the load; the line current.

               Solution:

Power consumed by each phase = 2000 W
