Power consumed by all the three phases = 3 × 2000 W
                                                                           = 6000 W
               Total power supplied = total power consumed.

               Power consumed per phase

               Example 4.6    A 400 V, 50 Hz, three-phase supply is provided to a three-

               phase delta-connected load. The resistance and inductance of each phase of
               the load is 8 W and 0.04 H, respectively. Calculate the phase current and the

               line current drawn by the load. Also calculate the total power consumed.

               Solution:

               The impedance of load per phase,

                                                                 Z  = R + j ωL = 8 + j 2π × 50 × 0.04
                                                       Ph

                                                                      = 8 + j 12.56 Ω.

               Since the load is delta connected, V  = V  = 400 V
                                                          Ph
                                                                  L

               Total power consumed = 3 V  I  cos ϕ
                                                  Ph Ph
                                                = 3 × 400 × 26.86 cos ϕ W
                                                = 3 × 400 × 26.86 × 0.52 = 1736 W
