“What’d you get for lunch, Nicki?” James asks as they walk back to the
office together.
“That five-spice beef thing they do at Jako’s. You?”
“Oh, pot stickers and stuff from New China.”
“That place has good food; I should have gone there with you. Hey, James,
I’m wondering if you can help me with something.”
“I’ll try. What’s up?”
“Well, we’re tracking winners and runners-up from each of our spinning
events, and we’re having unbelievable success selling products to them.”
“Ah, competition. Participants want something to gain an advantage in the
next heat?”
“Right. But I know there’s more we can do if we can link in personal trainers
somehow. Maybe go after the losers, the people who didn’t win their heat. I’d
like to send them to a trainer and earn a referral fee back to us . . . or maybe take a
percent of the training fees.”
“OK. Makes sense. So, where do you need my help?”
