The Greatest Honour
(a poem dedicated to Adyashanti)
I was as lost as one can be, asking the beggers for gold,
Searching for that one piece, to match the gap inside my soul.
I went around the world, asking anyone who would stop:
Do you, by any chance, know how to cure my weary heart?
No answers were received, nor were more questions asked.
Amidst a dance of ignorance and bliss,
I've been tricked by a kiss.
I lost my drive to seek, and instead, received a bruised cheek.
With my glass filled up, and my belly full,
I was nothing more than a comfortable fool.
But then, out of the shadows, your voice was heard,
Piercing through the wind like a mighty thunderbolt.
It took my world by storm, setting fire to my mind's stronghold.
We both stood still and watched it burn.
And when there was nothing left, you looked me in the eye,
Saying that if I was to truly live, I ought to die.
I recognized those words,
As they were there right from the start.
Thus, when the time was up,
I closed my eyes and let my mind merge with my heart.
What happened next, there is no point to mention,
