The 2019 Yamaha YZ250F is sticking with the Speed-Sensitive-System coil-spring-type fork that was fitted on the 2018 model, but a few updates have been made -- larger pistons and newly designed fork lugs/axle brackets provide a good balance between the handling and bump absorption, keeping the rider in control and the ride smooth. The KYB shock has new damp-
ing characteristics that match the new chassis along with a new, lighter weight spring, and the shock reservoir has been increased by 30cc to improve damping control during long rides.
The chassis has been totally revamped for 2019, featuring an aluminum bilateral beam frame that is designed to improve ground-contact and provide an optimal balance of stiffness for bump absorption and cornering. The frame features a redesigned swingarm pivot area along with new upper frame bracing and rear frame spars. Redesigned engine mounts that help to centralize mass and improve rigidity on lateral, horizontal, and vertical axes combine for a near perfect balance of front-end feel and high-speed stability.
Encapsulating the overhauled chassis, the bodywork of the new 2019 model is lighter and more compact from fender to fender. The radiator shrouds sport a new air duct with a concave shape that looks sleeker and is more narrow for better knee grip and rider ergonomics. The seat height has been reduced by a little more than a quarter inch in the front and little more than three quarters of an inch in the rear, allowing more space for rider maneuverability. The bike’s blue Excel rims are lighter than the previous wheels, reducing weight without reducing dura- bility, and wheel collars with more rigidity are supposed to provide a better feeling of ground contact while braking as well as better traction.
The YZ250F is available in either Team Yamaha Blue or White color schemes, complete with the onboard Communication Control Unit (CCU) and the Yamaha Smartphone Power Tuner app, and will be available at Yamaha dealers in late June of 2018 for $8,199.
