RJ HAMPSHIRE
Have you ever seen a motocross kid swing a golf club, shoot a basketball or throw a baseball? It’s usually an embarrassing sight. The majority of the motocross community only know how to do one thing and that’s race
dirt bikes. This is not the case for Geico Honda’s RJ Hampshire. Riding motocross just for fun as a kid, RJ played baseball his entire life and
was on his way to being a college baseball player. Deciding later than most riders that he wanted to pursue a career in racing, RJ started taking racing seriously and looked as
though he had never taken time off. Although he may not have gotten the racing experience his fellow amateur graduates did, his time off has not effected his results. His short amateur career ended with a six moto sweep
at Loretta Lynn’s that earned him two titles and the AMA motocross Horizon Award. Turning pro immediately after, RJ has shown great speed, impressive results, but also some spectacular crashes. His most recent crash at
the RedBull Straight Rhythm was a brutal one and left him unconscious with some head injuries. Luckily for RJ and the entire Geico Honda team, he has fully recovered and is ready to contend for the 250 east coast SX title.
