JEREMY MARTIN
Three rounds deep and the #6 Yamaha is keeping two wheels on the ground, continuing his hunt for
an SX championship. Like so many other racers demonstrating such dominance outdoors, Martin is a
pleasure to watch each and every round indoors as we witness the progression. As most of you know, failing to qualify in the first round of the 2013 season, the first two rounds of 2014 and even in Indianapolis last year, Jeremy hasn’t been able to truly contend for the championship in the supercross category.
Whether it has become a personal competition with west coast rival and Yamalube/Star Racing teammate, Cooper Webb, or just a personal vengeance against the stacked field in order to earn the immortal 250 East #1 plate, 2016 is beginning to seem like his year. Martin has bounced back hard so far through the first three rounds, posting all top 5 finishes with one of them a win in Daytona two weeks ago. Without a doubt, Martin isn’t playing any games and will need to use the Dungey-like strategy of being there each round to maintain his points lead.
To start the year, the #49 of Davalos came out of the first round as the class’s seasoned contender, but obligated to take care of personal matters and a forced absence at Toronto last weekend, Martin has now taken over as the veteran to beat. Still, with Justin Hill and Malcolm Stewart both within an arm’s distance, being 2 and 10 points behind specifically, Martin has proven he can handle pressure
with two outdoor championships under his belt. Obviously way too early and too close to call, Martin will still be required to continue the consistent results. The red plated #6 of Martin comes into round 4 knowing the importance of each round more than anyone and should be using that to his advantage in Detroit.
