Jake made it through qualifying healthy in Detroit. He was able to take the 14th position and go into the night show ready to put in some solid results. He got a decent start in 450 Heat 1 and came around the first lap in 8th. He started picking riders off and made his way into 7th, early in lap 3. Weimer closed in on the battle for qualifying position but was unable to make it happen. In the Semi, Weimer got a terrible start but was able to hug the inside in the first corner and begin the battle for a transfer position. Weimer solidified 5th place by lap 3 and set his sights on 4th. On the last lap, Jake made the move on Friese for 4th and finished very close to Nicoletti who was just in front of him. Jake would have a poor gate pick for the Main but would try and make the best of it. The 450 Main was racked up and the gate was about to drop. Weimer got yet again, another poor start and rounded the first lap around 14th. By lap 3 he had made his way up a couple spots and was going good until a tangle with another rider led Jake to the ground in a hurry. Jake crashed last year at Detroit and the last thing he wanted to do was go face to face with the Michigan dirt again. Nevertheless, the red cross flags came out and Jakes night was over. Hopefully Jake is not seriously injured and will use the break to recuperate from the crash.
