Andrew Short came into Arlington determined to earn a good result in his final race in his home state of Texas. He started his day with a solid 18th place effort in qualifying practice and
looked ready to put his BTO Sports KTM in the main event.
Short came out firing in his heat race crossing the stripe in second but because of his position on the outside, he got hung out to dry and was quickly shuffled all the way back to 9th place. He would be unable to recover from that early shuffle and would be forced to try his luck in the semi.
Short got off to a good start in his semi and was battling inside the top 5. He locked into the 5th and final transfer spot with a few laps to go and in those final laps; Wil Hahn came knocking on Short’s door. The two would go at it hard but Short was able to hold onto the final transfer spot after surviving a last ditch effort in the final turn by Hahn. Short had himself a decent main event. He did not get a good start and quickly found himself floundering outside of the top 10. Early in the race he would lose some spots and fall back to around 16th. He would hover there for a while but caught a second wind late in the race and reeled off some passes to get up into 13th place. Shorty is still trying to find his groove in just his second race of the season and maybe found some of it late in the main event by charging up to 13th. Look for the 29 to work his way back into the top 10 next weekend in Atlanta.
