looked like a field of tally marks, “1’s” being slashed everywhere in perfect unison. The second round of heat races, saw Quinn Amyottte and Matt Kretzler form one of the strongest battles of the week. Amyotte, with the early lead, was finding his groove, and began to settle into a strong, but not overly aggressive pace. It was then a matter of who wanted it more, as on lap four, Kretzler would make his final pass stick, thinking he then had it in the bag. Not so fast my friend, Amyotte displayed true cham- pion like character, passing him back with just one lap to go! Kretzler, the mistake pushing him back to fifth, would be beyond devastated, and Amoytte, taking the win, on the complete opposite side of the spectrum with glee. For the run off, all eyes were of course, on Stockton Stinebaugh. But you know what they say, as it really isn’t over, until the final flag flies. Amyotte, did what was needed, by getting the tip off, and immediately driving to the basket. He would score, lap after lap, increasing his lead with every go around. Now... where was the number 41? Ahh, there he was; he’d been located! Beyond deep in the back of the pack, each lap, he would hop multiple riders at a time. And although his pace was visually assertive, it was too little too late, as Ontario’s Amyotte had rode like a true warrior, never being defeated mentally, nor physically. He would take home a plate, which was his forever. A champion in the record books for all of time.
