NICK WEY
Daytona marked the return of veteran Michigan Mafia rider and fan favorite Nick Wey. Prior to the 2016 season, Wey announced his retirement after EIGHTEEN years of racing Supercross but could not skip out on the perfect opportunity to return. After Team Tedder rider, Dakota Tedder, went down with
an injury in Atlanta, they presented the wily vet with an offer that he could not
refuse. Team Tedder Monster Energy Kawasaki gave Nick Wey a bike to ride for the remainder of the 2016 season. His return to racing
in Daytona did not go to plan as
the grueling course and depth of competition kept him from the main event. But he found a little extra juice in the tank and busted out impressive fourteenth and fifteenth place finishes at the following rounds in Toronto and Detroit in front of his hometown crowd. It’s always good to see Wey perform well and
I am expecting him to perform even better after using the break to get the bike completely dialed in as he only had limited time to test once returning to racing.
