307) BARBIE ET SES AMIS BARBIE BRIO BOOKLET
• Brio was a familiar name to toy purchasers world-wide. The products
of this long established company, based in Sweden, were found at
many upscale toy stores
• In 1963 Brio was the wholesale company for the Bild Lilli Doll, which was
sold as a “boy toy” and referred to as a “pin-up girl” which hung and
dangled in the front window of cars driven by men. The Lilli Doll was
not meant to be a toy for children and her appeal could easily be
compared to Barbie. This could be the reason that The Brio Company
waited so long to release and market their own Barbie Doll line. There
is a theory that Brio wanted to see how other countries in Europe
succeeded with the release of Barbie
• These fun booklets were included in the Brio Barbie set along with the
US version booklet which generally came sealed with accessories for
the doll in the box
• This excellent booklet features Barbie and family in various fashions
• Tiny crease in upper right hand corner of booklet
• Suggested $30-$50
