Message from the President
It is truly hard to believe how quickly the year has passed since I was installed as
President of the Nassau County Dental Society. In the blink of an eye, here we are at
the end of 2020.
It was certainly a busy and challenging year, which is probably why it passed so
quickly. I am humbled, honored, and privileged to have been the President of
Nassau County Dental Society during the year 2020. I am inspired by the
contribution of many Committee & Council Chairs and members who have worked
hard to make a difference to our Society. It takes a collective effort to make an
association like NCDS viable and I think it is only fair that special thanks go out to all
volunteers, the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Council and Committee
chairs, Office staff and our Executive Director.
Our achievements were many. One of the most valuable was our ability to quickly shift to providing C.E.
virtually through Zoom.
Given the fact that we had the unprecedented mandatory shut down of our offices to all but urgent care from
March through June, our members needed direction on how to not only navigate the shut down but their
reopening as well. Thanks to the advocacy efforts of NYSDA, dentistry was allowed to reopen in the first
phase and begin treating patients for comprehensive dentistry once again.
Dentists needed infection control guidelines for their offices and with the help of the ADA and NYSDA, as
well as your association at the grass roots level, we were able to provide our members the needed
information on a timely basis.
During the months of April and May there was a significant shortage of PPE and the profession was faced
with the challenge of finding it. I am proud to say that the Nassau County Dental Society was able to obtain
PPE from the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management and distribute packages, complimentary, to
Nassau dentists who requested for them. Thank you to those volunteers for their tremendous effort!
While there is still much to do, the new Executive Committee and Board of Directors are invigorated and
anxious to work with ongoing leadership for the Association in order to grow its membership as well as our
member benefit programs. Our association will continue to provide Advocacy and monitor legislation that
affects our ability to practice Dentistry.
I would not be here today without the support of my wife Mrs. Meena Verma, my son Dr. Rohit Verma and
Daughter Dr. Supriya Verma for putting up with me for over 30 years of my involvement with Organized
Dentistry in different positions.
Once again, as I look at the end of my year as president of NCDS, I feel sincere gratitude for the wonderful
work done by all our volunteers.
Before I close, I would like to say to our board members and colleagues, let us reflect on our shared
responsibility of getting involved with NCDS in any capacity of Volunteerism and spread the word of the
benefits of getting involved with the ADA, NYSDA and NCDS membership.
“Stay safe and healthy for your family, your community, and your patients.”
Binod.K.Verma
