And the winner of the most years of membership…
Recognition is due to our member, Dr. Lisl I. Kast, who was a full-paying member of the ADA and
NCDS for 63 years! She retired from dentistry on February 28, 2020 at the age of 90! She prac-
ticed in Seaford, NY.
She was a true trailblazer. Dr. Kast earned her DDS degree from New York University in 1955. At
that time, female dentists were a very small segment of the dental workforce. By 1980, less than
3% of all dentists were female. Compare that to 2015 when women represented an estimated 27%
of the dental workforce* and to 2019 when nearly 30% of dentists were
female**.
