Xiao: Investors, policy makers and companies alike, across the globe have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, one of which has truly highlighted
the interconnectedness between people, planet, and profits. In many instances, I could see that the pandemic might actually accelerate pre-existing trends
towards greater ESG integration. Do you think COVID-19 significantly influenced how stakeholders and organizations approach ESG?

Paula: Absolutely, I think COVID has accelerated many trends along with ESG. 2020 was a difficult year, and COVID has definitely impacted all of our
lives. It has highlighted the inequalities that exist in the world, not just the disparity between the rich and poor, or between developed and developing
countries. For one, in terms of vaccine access, even within our own countries, you can see lower-income people living in more crowded areas, more
prone to contagion, and which then affects their ability to work. work. The environment is absolutely intertwined with COVID. The social side we’ve
also seen issues of sick leave benefits, highlighting major structural issues like how our governments deal with sick people. One thing I noticed in 2020
is the language companies have been using in the financial disclosures to talk about COVID, and that was really important to us to see how they are
managing COVID for their workforce. We saw that they didn’t just talk about profitability, but rather focused on their commitment to people, safety,
managing the team, and staying home.
Our companies work hard to treat their employees well during the pandemic, they were prepared and ready to take things seriously and make the
necessary investments. But from an environmental perspective, I think there are huge gaps on its awareness. Initially, COVID was positive for climate
change because everything shut down for a while, the world saw that the skies becoming clear, and several cities experienced higher air quality.

We have also seen that people who are more likely to die from COVID have other health issues as well. I think COVID has brought out more awareness
of health issues and that we need to eat better and be healthier. The destruction of animal habitats has also been a topical discussion, the encroachment
by humans, and the interconnectedness of disease passing between humans and animals has been further highlighted because fo COVID. The loss of
biodiversity, extinction of species, and mass-migration of animals to the poles due to the rising temperature near the equator has highlighted again
    climate change extreme changes.
COVID is very interesting, you can say it is like a hurricane, and people get the risk associated. But when we talk about climate change, it has been
happening in slow motion, so it makes it more difficult for people to understand. I think COVID, has brought an awareness to environmental issues,
including an awareness that time is running out. That is why we are following the net zero initiative, the risk is very real and interconnected, and the
companies we are investing in need to be taking climate change adaptation and mitigation seriously.
