What about my Record?

If you have been to prison, you need to think in terms of independence and/or
self-sufficiency. There is really no way around it. You will have to make sure your
paperwork is in order to satisfy the conditions of your parole/probation. The term
self-employment insinuates that an individual desiring to do for one’s self is highly
skilled in a trade or just tired of working under someone's rules. If you have been
found guilty of a crime, many employers will not want you. For this reason, you
are encouraged to do your own thing.

If your Probation or Parole overseer do not want you working for self, meet the
requirements of your probation/parole and commence to building your own
         business.

More often, the individual has a product or service. And with the availability of
the internet, the accessibility of intellectual properties has increased. There
seems to be more ideas of how to make money for sale than there are tangible
products to sell. But again, you will not have to sit before a computer to make
money. The computer can be an instrument to facilitate your vision.

If you are imprisoned, you must entertain the idea of finding a way to provide for
yourself once you are paroled, released or liberated. Understand – one must not
be tied to the penal system to be considered a prisoner. If you have child support
obligations, outstanding taxes with the IRS, a job that will not let you rise above
poverty, a business that cannot survive without your presence, you, too, could
         be considered a prisoner.

Options in your path may range from washing cars to cutting grass, if you don’t
become more creative and decide what you can offer amongst the competition.
The simplest of ideas could be extremely profitable. Prepare fliers, postcards,
business cards and a website, if your budget permits it or a sacrifice can be made.
Make the necessary sacrifices to save for and build your business. If you can do
without something, do without it until you can afford it. Do not spend pointlessly
to fulfill a void or make yourself feel better.

Blue collar jobs seem to be the highest paying. The northern Midwest area often
has openings in jobs for manual labor. Regardless of the economy, people have
become lazy. The need to justify becoming impoverished, going to prison or
returning to prison should be removed from your psyche.
