Bust statue of Amenmhat III
Amenmhat III was one of kings of 12th dynasty, he was son of king senwsert iii.
He ruled for 48 years, the irrigation and agricultural projects reached its peak
during his reign. He built 2 pyramids; one at Dahshur and the other at Hawara.
He built there his great temple called by Herodutes '' the labyrnith''
The material: It is made out of grey granite.
The discovery: it is found at El Fayum
The description of the statue:
The king here wears priestly costumes as the panther skin clearly appears in his
shoulders, as we can see the head of the panther on the left side and the paws
of the panther on the other shoulder. He wears a heavy curly hair wig. He
wears mnat collar on his neck.
The artist carved his facial features in a high relief showing a dramatic
expression on his face like the wide protruding eyes, heavy lids, the eyebrows
in a high relief, wrinkles between the eyes, high cheekbones, muscles around
the large mouth and a high gap between the lower lip and the chin, there was a
false beard attached to the chin , but now it is missed, it is supposed that this
