What is an
adjective?
An adjective modifies a noun or
pronoun by providing descriptive
or specific detail. Unlike adverbs,
adjectives do not modify verbs,
other adjectives, or adverbs.
Adjectives usually precede the
noun or pronoun they modify.
Examples:
1. Farah has just bought a new pair of sandals from an online store.
(new describes what kind of sandals Farah bought.
2. The chef cooked five plates of fried rice for the customers.
(five tells how many plates of fried rice the chef cooked)
3. That house has been abandoned since the owner died last year.
(that specifies which house has been abandoned)
