BIO
Pete Caruso
Pete Caruso grew up in Verona, New Jersey, a great suburb about 20 miles west of New York City.
His parents instilled in him, and his 3 brothers, the value of self-worth, discipline and
accountability. Pete left the friendly confines of Verona in 1986, driving his POS 71 Mustang
3,000 miles away and settled, well, ended, in San Diego. Pacific Beach became his home and The
San Diego Police Department hired him in July of 1986.
Pete’s first assignment was at Central Division, 801 W. Market Street. For the 30 plus years
ahead, Pete worked directly and indirectly in Downtown San Diego and saw first-hand the
changes that came about in the area.
Working various assignments in the Police Department, Pete began to explore his passion in real
estate. Purchasing his first condo at the age of 24, becoming a landlord at the age of 25, he was
bitten by the real estate bug.
In 1995, Pete was chosen to become a member of the elite K9 Unit for the Police Department.
Pete quickly rose from handler to trainer to Senior Trainer and is recognized nationally as an
expert in animal behavior issues and legal issues.
In 1998, Pete acquired his real estate license in California to pursue his passion of real estate.
Pete worked for an independent Broker and quickly rose to number one in sales and closed
transactions.
Pete retired from the Police Department in 2017 and has never looked back.
