Chorus at Wells
Cathedral
Continuing an age-old tradition, an 800-strong
Music
audience descended upon Wells Cathedral to
witness Millfield Festival Chorus, conducted
by our Director of Music, Matthew Cook,
perform magnificently Charles Gounod’s
Messe Solennelle de Sainte Cecile alongside a
professional chamber orchestra. A work with
masterful command over the florid style of his
youth, the huge scale of the performance was a
sight to behold, and one which was unanimously
well-received from our audience. The audience
were also treated to a staggering performance
of Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony by our Millfield
Orchestra, led expertly by Mr Clive Hughes.
