        About Probate Genealogy Due Diligence
Genealogy is following a Family Tree and filling in the branches for Public Administrators, probate attorneys, and estate
executors / personal representatives. Investigative findings will be used to make monetary disbursements based on the
        will or statute.

        Getting Started
At all basic and beginning stages, you are primarily doing research and records checks, followed by investigation.
Keep your research focused and step-by-step.
        • Use Tiers to conduct in stages, issuing interim reports in each stage.
        • Expand only as needed, and approved in time and budget – and legal requirements – directed by the attorney.

        Recommended Investigative Protocol
Following the concepts from our course and textbook – Practical Methods for Legal Investigations:
        • Prepare
        • Inquire
        • Analyze
        • Document
        • Report

        Reports
Your report will depend on the client’s needs and requests
        • Is it for court filing – such as an affidavit?
        • Are exhibits and supporting documents requested / required?
        • Is it a report format or family tree format?
