According to CBI, 652 cases between 2008 and 2023 were identified as being affected by Woods’ data manipulation.
CBI said the data was manipulated in the following ways:
• Deleted and altered data that concealed Woods’ tampering with controls
• Deleted data that concealed Woods’ failure to troubleshoot issues within the testing process
• Failed to provide thorough documentation in the case record related to certain tests performed
Per the investigation, CBI claims the manipulation was intentional on Woods’ part.

Another DNA analyst fired - Weld County / Northern Colorado Regional Lab
In the CBI’s internal investigation of the above, another analyst was exposed.

Chiara Wuensch, who worked for the Northern Colorado Regional Forensic Lab for over ten years, was terminated
Wednesday, Feb. 28 for not cooperating with an internal sheriff's office investigation, according to the agency.

The sheriff's office was looking into Wuensch in the first place for reported anomalies in her case work, and the agency
said it now plans to criminally charge the former DNA analyst.

The accusations against Wuensch's case work came about from a Colorado Bureau of Investigation review of their own
personnel.
