        • Documentation: Detailed and accurate documentation of the Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation, and Verification
process is essential. This documentation is then applied to submitted reports and testimony to explain the
            conclusions drawn from the evidence.
        • Legal Standards: Adherence to legal standards and protocols is essential to ensure that evidence collected and
            analyzed is admissible in court.

While ACE-V is primarily associated with forensic analysis and forensic science, its systematic approach to evidence
examination and comparison can be adapted and applied to legal investigations to ensure the thorough and reliable
assessment of evidence in a variety of contexts.

Our agency, specializing in Medicolegal Death Investigations and Serious Bodily Injury, has applied the ACE-V protocols
to all each review and analysis in our expert consultations for civil and criminal litigation, interpleader proceedings, and
family questioned deaths. With our own process of independent review and analysis, and applying the ACE-V protocols,
our clients are assured of unbiased objective review and analysis concluding with our unbiased subjective findings based
on our extensive and continuing education, training, and experience.

                                                      Thank You!

Why is the ACE-V Forensic Protocol Important?

We can all agree honesty, integrity, and ethics are why this process – all expert consultation and analysis, and all legal
investigations doing so – are important. The work of every individual and team in our judicial system is paramount to an
individual’s rights, freedom, recovery of damages, etc. Each of us gets to go home at the end of the day – not
incarcerated, not facing loss of liberties, and not grieving from pain and loss due to the wrongful acts of another. When a
proven process is violated – whether by blatant or cognitive bias – at least one person is permanently damaged, and that
grows exponentially with each incident. We hold the trust of our clients – their clients – both close, and unmoving.

This month’s article was written last September, and was planned for this month well in advance. How telling – and
appropriate – the importance of this methodology would be so prominent and national and Colorado news.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Concludes DNA Analyst Internal Investigation
The investigation from CBI was dated Feb. 26 and it found Woods had:
            • Omitted material facts in official criminal justice records,
            • Tampered with DNA testing results by omitting some of those results, and
            • Violated CBI’s Code of Conduct and CBI laboratory policies ranging from data retention to quality control
               measures.
