Melanie Einzig grew up in Minnesota and moved to New York in 1990. Shortly after graduating she worked for the Associated Press. In 1997 she received the Aaron Siskind Foundation fellowship for her work titled Midtown. Her images have been exhibited in the US and Europe and included in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Brooklyn Historical Society amongst others. Born in France in 1978, Sylvain Cherkaoui has been working as a professional photographer since 2001. In 2004, Cherkaoui moved to Madrid, Spain, where he worked as a staff photographer for the Spanish national newspaper, ADN. Currently based in Dakar, Senegal, he works as a freelance photographer for the international press as well as for NGOs like ActionAid and the Red Cross. Cherkaoui’s main focus is the news in West Africa, where he has covered topics like the war in Mali and the Ebola epidemic. He is represented by Cosmos photo agency.
