45-46 Ed Kashi is a photojournalist, filmmaker, speaker and educator. A member of VII Photo Agency, Kashi is recognized for his complex imagery and compelling rendering of the human condition. Jean-Luc Deru has been an active photographer for over thirty years in the Liege region. For ten years he has concentrated on personal photo essays, many of which have been exhibited and published in several European countries. Peter Fitzpatrick is the Chair of the Photography Department at Columbia College, Chicago. He completed a Masters of Fine Arts Research at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW Sydney. 47-48 Louisa Marie-Summer, born 1983, studied Photo-Design in Munich and achieved her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Providence, RI. Louisa Marie Summer’s photographs have been exhibited internationally, at CNA Centre National de l’Audiovisuel, Dudelange, Luxemburg; Imago Fotokunst Berlin and several more. Lewis Wickes Hine (1874–1940) was an American sociologist and photographer. His photographs were instrumental in changing the child labor laws in the United States. The Library of Congress holds more than five thousand Hine photographs, including examples of his child labor and Red Cross photographs, his work portraits, and his WPA and TVA images.
