increasing your rate of breathing.
Tight neck and shoulders
Think about an animal that feels threatened or is
cornered. To make itself look larger, it hunches its
neck and shoulders. When you feel stressed, you
do the same thing. If you are continually stressed or
anxious, you are consistently contracting these
muscles subconsciously until they become tight and
painful. This muscle tension can also lead to
headaches.
Mind racing
If you are in a dangerous situation, your mind
needs to be able to interpret all the information in
your environment quickly. This increases your
chances of survival. If a bear is threatening you,
you need to know which direction it is coming
from, how fast and if there is a tree to climb or a
weapon near by that you can use to fight it off.
