which contributed to their development, no single
drug can address what caused these problems.
They may shore up the problem for the time being,
but they cannot bring back an effective state of
function.
Let's give an example. Many people, as they are
older, deal with pain. They may take some form of
pain reliever which is designed to block
inflammation and pain but this strategy can actually
perpetuate the problem. The reason the body gives
you a pain sensation is that it is trying to prevent
you from using the damaged tissue and making the
damage worse until it has had time to repair the
damage.
If you take a pain reliever, you no longer feel pain
and may continue to use the damaged tissue. This
can create further damage and perpetuate the
pain/drug/damage cycle further. What needs to be
understood here is that if your tissues can heal
faster than damage is being done, you will
eventually heal and be out of pain. If the damage is
extensive enough or continues to occur faster than
your body can heal, you will live in chronic pain.
The pain relievers may be able to block the pain for
