6.3 Strategic implementation and review
The strategy implementation stage involves drawing up the detailed plans, policies
and programme necessary to make strategy happen. It will also involve obtaining the
necessary resources and committing them for use in the strategy development.
The last step in the rational model is review and control. This is a continuous
process of reviewing both the implementation and the overall continuing suitability of
the strategy. It will consider:
Does the strategy being followed still put the business on course for reaching its
strategic objectives?
Are the results from the corporate appraisal, on which the strategy is based, still
valid or have unforeseen threats or opportunities arisen which may necessitate
a reconsideration of strategy?
