6.1 Emerging markets
A recent trend has been a rise in multinational companies from the emerging 'BRIC'
or 'BRICS' economies.
Two key factors have resulted in the growth of these economies:
globalisation
internal developments – these include:
– large population and rapid economy growth rates
– a move towards a free market economy
– relative political stability
– availability of labour and low wage rates
– improvements in education
– availability of natural resources.
