               1.2 Characteristics of individual behaviour

               Typical issues that affect individual behaviour and performance at work include:



                                 Motivation level – relates to people’s desire to
                                 perform tasks and put effort into their job



                      Perception – individuals select, organise and interpret the stimuli they
                      receive.  Messages from managers are always subject to distortion,
                      the subordinate selecting parts of the message and interpreting it in
                      light of their own experiences, wants and needs



                      Attitudes – persistent feelings and behavioural tendencies directed

                      towards specific people, group, ideas or objects




                      Personality – combination of emotional, attitudinal and behavioural

                      responses of an individual
