The context of change

                           What is change?

So far we have examined how a business selects and implements a new
strategy. Any new strategy is likely to involve significant changes for the
employees who have to implement it, which may lead to resistance. This
final section of the E3 syllabus looks at how a business can deal with this.

               1.1 Triggers for change

 External triggers – general (indirect) triggers can be identified using PEST
analysis, while task (direct) triggers are found through Porter’s Five Forces
                     model.

 Internal triggers – any internal issues, such as a new CEO, takeover or
                     merger, change of location, etc.

 The above triggers can be reasons why change is considered or even
necessary. However, more strategic analysis is needed to determine what
                     needs changing.
