2.1 The need for information systems strategy

The creation of an information systems strategy can be time consuming
and complex. So why would an organisation feel the need to create one?

Possible reasons include:

 The high cost of IT/IS

 Strong IT/IS are often a source of competitive advantage

 The fast-changing nature of IT/IS

 IT/IS are often expected by key stakeholders

 IT/IS tends to affect all levels of the organisation
