Risk and Control Issues
As with any risk factor, a business needs to make an assessment of the
risks and decide on the appropriate level of control to reduce the risks
to an acceptable level.
Risk Description
Risk of hardware theft Fairly obvious, but the theft of computer hardware is
common.
Physical damage to Physical damage can be caused by malicious damage,
hardware and computer poor operating conditions causing damage to
media (disks, etc.) equipment and magnetic files, or natural disasters.
Damage to data By hackers, viruses, corruption of software.
Operational mistakes Unintentional but damaging.
Fraud and industrial Can lead to the loss of confidentiality of sensitive
espionage information or the criminal creation of false data and
false transactions.
