Part 3- Compensation
Payroll Practices
Employees are paid biweekly on Thursday, for services performed the previous two-week
period ending the previous Sunday. If the regularly scheduled payroll date falls on a
holiday, employees will, when possible, be paid on the last business day before the
holiday. Otherwise, employees will be paid on the first business day following the
scheduled payroll date.
Salary Deductions and Withholding
Taxes
Federal, state, and local taxes as well as the required FICA (Social Security and
Medicare) will be deducted from each check, as required by law. State and local income
taxes vary from state to state. Citizens’ High School will deduct income taxes according
to the state amount required by the state the employee resides. These deductions will be
itemized on your check stub. The amount of the deductions may depend on your earnings
and on the information you furnish on your W-4 form regarding the number of
dependents/exemptions you claim. Any change in name, address, telephone number,
marital status or number of exemptions must be reported to Human Resources
immediately, to ensure proper credit for tax purposes. The W-2 form you receive for each
year indicates precisely how much of your earnings were deducted for these purposes.
Any other mandatory deductions to be made from your paycheck, such as court ordered
attachments or garnishments, will be explained whenever Citizens’ High School is
ordered to make such deductions.
Other Deductions
Other deductions which you authorize such as: short term disability insurance, flexible
spending account (FSA) contributions, and 401(k) contributions (when implemented).
Direct Deposit
All payrolls are distributed via direct deposit to any employee’s checking or savings bank
account. This process is administered by C&A Benefits Group. All forms and
information is available in your Employee Navigator.
