Unique Features: Rare book, Vinograd Meissen lists 4 books by this author, but the book before us is not listed.
Background: Anti-semitic work in German, with some words and the name of the book on the title page and on the cover in Yiddish. e work was written in the form of a play, in bro- ken German, with illustrations mocking Jews, and with an appalling picture of a Jewish family sitting around a table. e author called himself by a Jewish name, but is known to be the anti-Semite Heinrich Holzschuher [1796-1861].

Die linke Massematten der houchlöbliche Jüdenschaft. A book warning, ostensibly, about the Jews acting as swindlers among the Christians, and proposing ways to prevent it, by Itzig Pitel Stern (I.F. Holzchuher).

Unique Features: e book before us is one of the antise- mitic works by judge and author Johann Friedrich Sigmund Holzschuher (1796-1861). A number of words in Yiddish are on the title page and in two titles within the book. e book lists, among other topics, the scams and tricks which the author attri- butes to Jews who come in contact with Christians, a number of tales related to Jews and a list of terms in the swindlers׳ language. Two illustrations depicting two of the stories told in the book are at the beginning of the book.
