Postcard with two letters written by two of the foremost families of Brisk, the Soloveitchik and Steinman families .]?1939-1940[
Speci cations: [1] postcard. 14x10 cm. Divided into two dif- ferent letters (to save postage expenses). e postcard was sent to Switzerland, to Rabbi Moshe Soloveitchik by his father Rabbi Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik, and to Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman by his father, Rabbi Noach Zvi Steinman.
Background: In 1938, two young men travelled from Brisk to Switzerland, to escape the Polish military draft. ese two young men, who were saved by this journey, later became leaders of the generation and in uenced the rescue of entire post-Holocaust Torah world - Rabbi Moshe Soloveitchik in the city of Zurich, who led the entire Torah world of Europe, and Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman, the leader of the Torah world in the Land of Israel to this day. ese letters were sent together to the two boys from their families who remained in Brisk.
e letter to Rabbi Moshe Soloveitchik was written by his father Rabbi Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik, the eldest son of Rabbi Chaim of Brisk. He was known as a righteous man, and Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman said regarding him that he had clear memories of the Beit HaLevi, and he heard from him stories about him. Material about him is enclosed. Rebbetzin Miriam Soloveitchik also wrote a letter on the postcard. Rabbi Moshe is the sole scion of his father׳s house, who were all murdered in the Holocaust.
Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman׳s father wrote a letter to his son, “To my dear son Aharon Leib,” on the bottom section.

גלויה ובה שני מכתבים שנכתבו על ידי חשובי המשפחות בבריסק, משפחת סולובייצ׳יק ושטיינמן. [1940-1939?]

רקע: בשנת 1938 נסעו שני בחורים מבריסק לשוויץ, כדי להמלט מצו הגיוס הפולני. שני בחורים אלו, שניצלו בזכות הנסיעה הזו, לימים הפכו לגדולי הדור והשפיעו על הצלת עולם התורה כולה לאחר השואה - הגאון רבי משה סולובייציק בעיר ציריך, שהנהיג את כל עולם התורה באירופה, והגאון רבי אהרן לייב שטיינמן שליט״א מנהיג עולם התורה בארץ ישראל עד ימינו. מכתבים אלו נשלחו יחדיו אל שני הבחורים על ידי משפחותיהם
שנותרו בבריסק.
המכתב לרבי משה סולובייצי׳ק נכתב על ידי אביו רבי ישראל גרשון סולובייצ׳יק, בנו הגדול של רבי חיים מבריסק. הוא נודע כצדיק, והגראי"ל שטיינמן אמר עליו שהוא זכר היטב את בעל הבית הלוי, והוא שמע ממנו דבריו אודותיו. מצורף חומר אודותיו. גם הרבנית מרים סולובייצ׳יק כתבה מכתב בתוך הגלויה. רבי משה הוא הנצר היחידי לבית אביו שנהרגו
כולם בשואה.
בחלק התחתון כתב אביו של ראי״ל שיינמן מכתב לבנו “לבני היקר אהרן ליב נ״י״.
