                        THE JAZZ SIPPER

     Chapter Two-----A Love Supreme

Vance was reminiscing on how he met Regina, and how she became his Love
Supreme. He thought about how funny life was at times and how on many
occasions good can be pulled out of something bad. All you had to do is be
willing to pull it out. Vance was right, Regina definitely was different she was
professional on her job, but outside the hospital she was down to earth. A
thoughtful, insightful, spiritual and a stone cold warrior when she had to be,
she took no shorts from nobody. And to top it off, his Aunt Jessie loved her
and took her under her wing. It was Regina that he credited partially for his
quick recovery. She pushed him every day while he was in the hospital
recuperating. She brought books for him to read and jazz tapes she made
from her dad’s jazz collection to listen too. After finishing her shift she sat
around in his hospital room and they would talk for hours about life, their
families, their friends and their aspirations. Thinking about those times Vance
began smiling because he remembered times in their conversations he felt he
was on trial; and Regina was the prosecutor, jury and the judge. Her questions
were well thought out and solicited well thought answers.

  Vance thought she had the prettiest eyes that he ever looked into and when
he told her that for the first time, she smiled and began blushing profusely.
She even blushed at a lot of his answers to her questions. Prior to him leaving
the hospital they had become fast friends and then some. He remembered
the first time they kissed each other and how awkward he felt before and
afterwards, but doing the kiss he didn’t have that feeling. Vance later thought
maybe he felt that way because of the silence they shared before and after
the kiss. Vance and Regina knew and expected that their lives would never
