Then, he asked Vance did he understand what he meant by a significant
emotional event, Vance shook his head as though to say he wasn’t sure.
Uncle Frank said a significant emotional event is something that happens to
you that questions everything about you from your beliefs, values and
mindset. In essence your core; and at that moment going forward you either
make a change for the better or for the worst. But one thing is for sure, you
will make a change.
Vance seem to be pondering what Uncle Frank had just said, when he
asked Uncle Frank did the significant emotional event have to be negative,
Uncle Frank smiled and said, no my son it can be positive as well. Vance and
Uncle Frank talked for a while longer about everything. All the while Vance
kept subconsciously thinking about Regina and the kiss they had shared with
each other earlier. Vance wondered if that was a positive significant emotional
event. One thing he knew for sure was the relationship between him and
Regina had definitely changed. By the time Uncle Frank had left, some three
hours had passed. And he would have still been there if it was not for Aunt
Jessie calling Vance’s hospital room telling Uncle Frank to pick up something
from the store on his way home. As, Vance started dosing off he could hear
the sharp sounds of John Coltrane sax again from the melody A Love
Supreme. Yeah, definitely A Love Supreme Vance thought.
Vance final week in the hospital had come and gone and today he would
be discharged. Vance had been thanking all his doctors and nurses that
helped him to get through his ordeal. But, he really felt that his nurse mama,
