We all know that the last year has been a year like no other. Throughout the uncertainty of the past 12 months, we have managed to continue to run a great club with fantastic members and staff. After a few initial teething issues and adjustments following the major renovation, our club is going from strength to strength.
The secret must be out about how great our club really is? This has been demonstrated in the past year with our membership base increasing from a total of 566 members to an amazing total of 655. Sunshine Beach Surf Lifesaving Club has provided a place of connection, fun and solace in these challenging times. Our membership total is now the largest it has ever been in our history. It very pleasing in these COVID crazy times that people have chosen to be part of our special club.
When looking in the increase in membership it
is fantastic and refreshing to see a significant increase in the 13 years to 18 years age group with 44 more members from the previous year. Our Over 18’s active have also increased by 27 new members. Indestructible and indispensable Doug and his team of hard-working trainers have certainly been busy getting everyone proficient and trained up for their duties between the flags.

necessarily have the time;
they just have the heart.

Of course, it is amazing that once again we have had zero fatalities between the flags.
Thank you to our Life Saving Manager Michelle, our bookkeeper Karen, Josh and his great coaching team, my fellow Directors, all our club volunteers and patrolling members who give their time graciously and in good humour have worked incredibly hard all season to ensure that our club and beach runs efficiently and effectively as possible.
I think we can all congratulate ourselves on another great season in the Sunshine Beach Surf Lifesaving Club’s history. I hope the 2021/22 season will be another memorable year for our club and that we continue to build on our successes.
