A VISIT TO AGADI FARM
These days corona has made our lives very miserable. No outing, no fun, no happiness, no
school and no friends. It has curbed our happiness.
But I would like to cherish my memories of my visit to AGADI farm with my family and
friends. I would like to share that great experience with you all.
'Agadi Farm' is a res ort cum picnic spot with a refreshment point located near Shiggaon,
Haveri District. It is spread over 40 acres of land having varieties of plants, herbs, trees &
colourful flowers. My father bought tickets for all of us at the entrance. They tied belt on our
wrist. Near the main gate, they greeted and welcomed us by placing a crown or a flower ring
made up of leaves, grass, twigs and flowers. Thus, began our enjoyable Agadi Farm trip.
Herbal welcome drink was given when we entered in. A man standing on big bamboo pole
looked so tall. Wooden horse which could be tied around our waist was giving very nice
feeling. Then, we came across a rope hut. We had to balance ourselves carefully to cross that.
I enjoyed that. There we saw a cane juice centre, where we had to squeeze the cane and extract
the juice for us. Then, we played swing, slide, see saw, pyramids & many other play station
games. Set dosa, idli and a dessert was given for tiffin.
Further, we saw beautiful typical north Karnataka life style models. Greenery, clay models,
village scenario, wooden artefacts etc. Colourful and variety of costumes were available for
rent. People were busy taking snaps posing differently. We all took a family snap in Rajasthani
costumes.
A troop of dancers were there who made us to dance for folk beats using props like clay pot
and dandiya. We enjoyed horse ride, camel ride and bullock cart ride. Mud bath, herbal
treatment was also available there. Ladies crowded near Mehendi corner. I could not control
myself to join when I saw people lost in rain dance for our favourite music. It was really
amazing.
We exhausted playing all the desi games and other activities. But the aroma of typical north
Karnataka food doubled our hunger. A delicious thali containing jowar roti, brinjal curry,
chatni powder, jhunka, pooran poli, vegetable salad, fruit bowl, lassi…. many more satisfied
our mind and body. My little brother gobbled up his favourite Mirchi and Girmitt.
Finally, we reached exit gate. It was totally fun-filled n exciting day. A nature spot to relax,
refresh and rejuvenate our mind and body. We enjoyed to the fullest. It’s a family outing
destination which can create wonderful memories. I always cherish those moments by flipping
my album. Ahish V Bharadwaj
