THE TREE AND THE TRAVELLERS

Once there was a huge tree with a broad trunk and innumerable branches right

in the middle of the dry land. The tree gave rest and shelter to a hundred and

thousands of travellers. One day two travellers reached the tree after a long time

of walking. Their destination was one of the towns nearby. It was a hot and a

sunny day, and the travellers were very happy to take a rest under the tree. After

a while one of the travellers got hungry, they had no food with them. The hungry

traveller looked up the tree to see if there was any fruit. Finding none he began

to curse the tree, the other traveller comforted him asked him to stay cool.

However, the other man continued cursing the tree. The tree which could not

stand the cursing, said yet in a loud voice “You can’t be so ungrateful to me, I

offered a cool place to rest and gave you shelter, if I was no there you would be

dead by now”. By hearing this, the traveller realized his mistake and apologized

the tree

Moral: Be grateful for the good things
