There are many responsibilities within the golf operation. None of which are more
important than leading a well trained and motivated staff. The success of the golf
operation at The Country Club of York will directly relate to the execution of the golf
staff in providing the first class service that your members deserve and have come to
expect. I have the unique ability as a leader to train and motivate staff to exceed the
expectations of the members and their guests. I attribute this success to recognizing
quality people, and train them to understand and deliver my philosophy with a personal
touch.
As your Golf Professional, my leadership objectives are to:
• Integrate well with existing golf staff and other Club Managers
• Deliver the best possible staff. My varied contracts in the business, as well as my
Golf Internship Programs, will allow me to deliver the best golf staff in the
section.
• Coordinate budgets with the Golf Chairman, Board of Directors, and General
Manager to ensure the golf operation is always properly staffed at all times.
• Train all staff members how to initiate and maintain proper interactions with all
members and guests.
• Conduct a weekly staff meeting to plan upcoming events and to track progress on
projects and tasks.
• Expect all staff members to greet members and guests upon arriving to property.
All staff members will stop any person when carrying their bag and offer to carry
it for them or direct them to their destination.
• Ensure after every golfer finishes their round, a member of the staff will be
available to clean their clubs and be sure to place the clubs either in storage or in
their car.
• Offer a well-maintained golf cart fleet that will be free of trash and washed after
completion of play.
• Design my Staff Responsibility Manual to reflect The Country Club of York’s
mission statement. This manual will outline expectations of the staff and their
individual job descriptions. In addition, each staff member will be required to read
and sign a letter of understanding that includes training schedules and
performance review dates.
