We eventually got back and had just enough time to shower and eat a hearty dinner, there would be plenty of drink going around later no doubt, so we wanted to have a full stomach.
‘Amber you look absolutely radiant’, Sherry rushed forward and squeezed me tight, ‘there must be a man in your life?’ she winked at me and we hugged again, I laughed it was great to see my old friend.
‘Sherry I’d like you to meet Penny’, I said as we finally came apart.
‘Excuse me Penny for being so rude, I’m so happy to see Amber I didn’t see you standing there’, Sherry said a little embarrassed she took Penny’s hand and held it affectionately.
‘Pleased to meet you, Amber has told me so much about you’.
‘How is the beautiful bride’, I asked a rather giddy Sherry.
‘Come let’s get a comfortable seat and have a drink’, she led us over to two big squashy sofas.
‘Tell me all about this wonderful man who you’re giving up the good life for’, I asked teasingly.
‘Oh Amber! He is gorgeous, handsome and best of all rich!’ Sherry exclaimed with joy.
‘His name is Brian Farrell and he runs his family’s wine business, import and export, that sort of thing’. She proceeded to tell us all about Brian, how they met, what wonderful things he does for her, how happy she was. We were no sooner finished our first drink when Sherry jumped up and asked ’Same again?’ like a flash of lightening she was at the bar.
