What’s studios do you produce your tracks in?
We have two studios we produce our tracks in from a professional home studio we built ourselves to our bigger one at a secret location only our closest friends have visited lol it’s a great retreat to shut out the world .and get some tracks on the go,) the home studio is mainly for draft layouts and ideas before they leave the brain lol
Do you have a favourite piece of outboard audio equipment?
The Korg Electribe MX is a great bit of kit to get some amazing sounds and beats on, but the Roland Aira series us unreal, you really do need the lot to get the most out of the hardware, they just work together perfect. Also the Korg MS- 20 Synth is a mean piece of hardware, we get some wicked sounds from it.
What are your thoughts on Analogue verses digital?
Analogue will always win over digital in our opinion, the good points, you get more of a feel working with hardware as its more hands on, makes you feel like you have worked harder especially if you do it all live, and as we all know it never takes just one take to get it right lol. It also gives you multi control with you project. The downside, the hardware can be expensive and take up a lot of room and if you don't have the space then it can be a major problem, don't get me wrong digital is still limitless, we only have to go through our huge amount of plugins we use daily to realise that, plus the sounds on some of the are not far from identical to the ones made with hardware.
Over the last 10 years a part of techno seemed to lose its fire and energy evolving and meandering into a more down tempo less aggressive style, did Techno loose its way? How do you see the Techno scene now?
I think 10 years ago a lot of people had different views on what Techno exactly was or sounded like, the more and more Dance festivals worldwide that started to pop up each year, and with the help of the likes of You Tube, Facebook, Twitter and smart phones etc., DJ's started to get there material other there easier and quicker. It has given the genre a massive boost amongst other genres. Techno now is the biggest we have ever seen it, and it’s getting bigger, I always laugh at the point Eminem made in one of his tracks some years ago "Nobody listens to Techno" yet 10 years on everybody knows or listens to Techno. I don't think Techno lost its way, i think times were changing, technology was advancing and Techno was simply evolving.
What are your next big project / collaborations / Album plans for the future?
We planned to release an album in 2012 - 13 unfortunately it was put on hold whilst we pushed the label and artists signed to Deep Water, but we are back on track now so hopefully we’ll get down to discussing future album plans in the coming weeks, as for collaborations most of them are not set in stone so we won't be saying much till they are 100% in the pipeline, but what we can say is if all goes to plan, there’s going to be some serious techno heading for release.
