On that tip I found the 1st tune “Now or Never” very Ambient, Cinematic very experimental lovely to listen too and of course leads into “Mindshapes”.
Christian: When we were getting the track down it reminded me of “Future Sound Of London” who are my favorite producers of all time!
John: It works really well. We did a mix about 3 years ago not long after we finished “Now or Never” it was with “Art Beleek” that we mixed it with and it sounded amazing. So its defo one of those tracks that the better Dj’s out there can mix. It’s a tricky one to mix into but if you nail it can really create atmosphere at the start of a set.
Christian :Its kind of odd but I like that it’s a little bit odd.
What do you both do to Unwind?
John: It seems like I’m on a permanent switch. I do enjoy a game of snooker. I have 2 dogs that I do bring for a walk. I’m lucky enough to live near a beach. Most relaxing I can do is getting a couple of beers in and have a mix. Then I spend some time critiquing it and giving it another go. I’m pretty particular about the mixes I put out.
Will you be getting in some drinks after this interview?
John: Maybe at 5.00am putting a mix together, something really clever together and then kicking back and having a listen. That’s one of the most relaxing things I can do. Putting a mix together that’s really left of center, that’s really off the wall.
So Snooker walking the Dogs and more Music!
Christian: I love to play PS3 with kids. That
and mediate I every day that helps me unwind!
Has either of you any funny habits you can share with the readers about each other?
Christian: Every time I am DJ'ing John always gives me 2 fingers.
John: Yeah, every time I’m Djing I feel propelled to give Christian 2 Fingers! (HAHAHA) Not sure where it came from but it’s become a habit!
Christian: I have one habit; I turn my head to one side all the time!
Probably because one ear is mashed from DJing over the years!
John: My one is mainly because Christian works lightening fast he hops forward and back in the middle of a track. And I need to be focused on the flow & arrangement. Sometimes Christian could be half way through or 3 quarters and then suddenly jump back to the 1st third. So I am like that doesn’t sound right that’s not going to work so I say “ Lets listen to it from the start”.
Christian: Yeah that’s it all the time.
John: That’s just keeps me happy in terms of where the track is going! And is my favorite saying or Habit in the Studio.
Christian: Yeah and it gives us a bit of focus because I am a bit of a scatterbrain.
OK Guys, anybody you would like to mention or thank?
John: I think there’s some people that we would both like to thank both of our wives would have had to listen to us harping on about this Album for Two and half years also Christian’s Kids Richard Dowling in WAV mastering we felt did an absolutely legendary job on the overall Album. The quality of his work is 2nd to none. Some of the more mature ears will definitely pick up on it.
Gav Mulhall “Silinder” who did an unbelievable remix of System Error, Roland Klinkenberg who did an amazing mix on the same track, and obviously the people who are currently working on remixes for us at the minute; we would like to thank all of them.
Christian: Nicolas Gaugain, he’s a French producer who worked on Resonance with us, Alex Dijksterhuis, G-Prod and Brian Cody.
I would like to thank you both for your time I really enjoyed chatting with you both and Good luck with the Album Release “Why 1 is One & 2 is Two” available from all good download sites.
