Note: Rather than wading through all your own state laws looking for
Assignment Orders, try going to Google.com and putting in “Assignment
Order,” NOLO, and your state name. My experience is that I can quickly
locate the state’s codes this way. It may take a few minutes, but that’s a good
way to do it.

These points and authorities are important! The judge doesn’t want to have to look up
the law that authorizes you to get the money through an Assignment Order. And in many
cases the judge may not be familiar with assignment orders.
